Best printer brand

Is HP still the best way to go for printing with INKJET printers in Ubuntu Linux?

I have used many HP printers over many different operating systems Windows, OS/2, Linux, AIX, and others and had great luck with them. Currently have used 4 different HPs under linux with no problems. Just about all new inkjets will use the HPLIP package for HP printers. My current is a PSC3310. Its an all in one and I can print, scan, fax, and read and write to the memory cards one can plug into it. Bit slow memory card reading and writing than using a usb to memeory card adapter. There is a gui with the HPLIP package to access all the above plus things like to see ink levels and others. Depends on the model. Also installing the latest versions gets the latest support for devices and there options.

You'll get many different opinions.

first, do you want to print photos? If not, any "top 3" inkjet is fine. In terms of Linux support, I think the ranking is
#1 HP
#2 Epson
#3 Canon (I think they are still the only one that makes no effort)

If you want to print photos, I recommend Epson first, then Canon, then HP. I've had no issues with Linux and my various Epson printers. Gimp now has a head cleaning and nozzle check utility built in.

drop by http://www.openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi after you've picked out your printer, but before you buy it.. just to make sure of the available support.

my 2 cents....
