Best Laptop
Not sure if its relevant to Linuxquestions at all, but since I am going to run Linux anyway...
I had Toshiba Satellite (do not remember the model) from ca.1995.
Now it is 10 years old and it still works great. I gave it to my retired dad, and for typing emails its just a gream machine. It never had any problems, except once a friend of mine turned over a glass of bear into the keyboard. Except fot the keyboard, the rest was totally bear-proof. Well, I had to replace the keyboard. Once I dropped the bag with my Toshiba on the marble floor at an airport. No effect whatsoever.
Since 2 years or so I use Acer TravelMate 800. The paint on the keyboard is gone on all of the most used keys. The screen flickers from time to time for an unknown to me reason, and the battery gets so hot, that I fear it will explode. The time to throu it away is approaching.
OK. everything is backed up, but,
I have a dilemma: buy one of the latest MACs or go back to Toshiba.
What fo you, folks, use and recommend as certainly a fortress?
I do not care to use the latest machines, changing them every year or so. I like something robust and reliable like was my old Toshiba. Though, I love the work of MAC designers.
Thanks
