Best hotplug drive SATA docking station for USB 3 on a mainline kernel?

What's the best hotplug drive enclosure or docking station for USB 3 on a mainline kernel?

I want to use a couple of 12 TB hard drives for offline backup. Every so often they'll sit in a USB docking station on my Debian stable file server in the garage. Not happy with Orico or Rosewill.

Which one has worked for you, trouble free?

Pluggable SATA-V has been very competent in Ubuntu, but it was a bit screwy with an 8TB GPT disk inserted. I think newer revisions are supposed to have improved that (mine is fairly old). I have an even older Kingwin USB 3.0 'duplicator' dock, that has worked just fine with whatever I've loaded into it (and it can mount two disks independently), but it won't pass SMART data along to the host (the Pluggable will) - confirmed in both Ubuntu and Slackware.
