best hardware linux media player? gp2x, ipod, etc?

i would like to buy a new media device. looking for opinions on best hardware for installing linux on, battery life, and diversity of software.

thanks for any help and knowledge.

I would say iPod, there is a linux distro built for it, and many people have success with it.

Yeah I was thinking of picking up an ipod and installing http://www.rockbox.org/ on it.. to get .ogg support

I've searched for other media players with .ogg support, and haven't seen much that looks interesting to me other than the ipod..
