Hi Guys,
I want to buy a digital camera to use on my machine using Linux. I understand I'll need one using USB mass storage that isn't secured digital. Can anyone recommend a camera they have that runs well under Linux? My distro is Mandrake 9.1 and my machine is a super-fast (!) 500 MHz with 128 RAM (so nothing too fancy or everything will seize up!).
As this will be a bit of an experiment and my first time using a digital camera I don't want to spend too much right now, probably under £50 (about $86). I might even be interested in getting one of the small 'keyring' type ones if anyone has used these?
Thanks for that everyone. As I understand it you can use any digital camera with Linux as long as it not proprietary i.e. you can get/don't need a driver for it. Also some are Linux unfriendly and/or don't work well with older spec machines. Is this correct? Oh, and I should have mentioned the £50 price was assuming I bought 2nd hand!
morpet and downinthemine - what is the actual model of camera you use, please?

I agree... I have a sony dsc-p8 3.2mpixel I plug it in in slackware 9 it detects it and I mount it (mount /dev/sda1 /sony) and thats all there is to it.
