Best configuration for dual boot RAID linear
Hi there I have recently got hold of an old PCI promise IDE controller and 2 large (120 and 200GB) IDE hardrive which my department was going to chuck. Having installed it in the computer, I wanted to do something fancy and have tried to read up on my options on making the two drives appear as one huge partition which I can put movies and all sorts onto. My niggle is that I am still dual booting with windows and occasionally like to access and write to these partitions. I am currently in a happy configuration on my original disk which has a large ext3 partition on it. I have installed EXT2 IFS driver which enables me to write and read to thelinux partition in windows flawlessly. I was wondering if there was a way I could get both new drives to appear as one partition in both linux and windows? Has anyone got any suggestions or stories on what they have done? I am thinking of a RAID linear as the drive is not going to be critical and I simple want the convenience of having one large partition than the ability to write to it or have redunancies etc.
Here's my fdisk if it helps (ps. yes I know I have a lot of partitions. my first job is going to be to some how move evyerhting temporarily to my new drives wipe the old one and then start afresh with the right parition sizes i.e less for windows :) ) Code:
Disk /dev/hda: 200.0 GB, 200049647616 bytes Thanks. |
