Beryl on Nvidia GeForce FX Ultra 5950?
I have tried with a few distrobutions to get Beryl working with my Nvidia GeForce FX Ultra 5950 but not had any joy.
It comes up with a message that there is no AixGL extension for my graphics card.
With this in mind is there any other way to get Beryl running with this card?
Also is this card powerful enough to actually run Beryl well?
If there is another way to get Beryl running without the AixGL extension will the performance be worse?
The current distro I am using which i would like to get this working with is Kubuntu 6.06 (Dapper)

The card is more than enough, but you need to install the proprietary Nvidia driver for the AIGLX support.

I used Automatix to install the driver. Is this the driver needed for Beryl?
3d acceleration seems to work with the 3d screensavers and glxgears.

Then check your xorg.conf for:

Section "Extensions"
        Option      "Composite" "Enable"

Thanks for your reply.
I'm pretty sure i don't have the composite enable option set in there so i will try that tonight when i get home from work.
Is the card powerful enough to run all of the eye candy that Beryl has at the moment?
I would love to get this running and show my OS X loving wife that anything Macs can do Linux can do better :)

Yes, the card is fast enough. However, there's an Nvidia driver bug that causes windows to open black if you have too many open. If that happens, just minimize the black window, and close something else. When you restore the window, it will be OK. Nvidia is working on it (a memory management bug).
