Benq 5000 USB scanner

I tried installing Benq 5000 USB Scanner for the first time. YSAT shows the scanner, but on test Command I get error and the message tells to update the firmware in the file snapscan.conf The snapscan folder is empty and there is nothing to edit.
How do I use the scanner

Do you have the snapscan backend installed?

Sorry, I don't know much about SUSE. But I think you should be able to install it from YAST, or whatever the package installer is on your system, instead of downloading it. I just provided the link for your information (the info on that page looks quite dated anyway. I don't recommend following it's configuration suggestions).

While installing I get the message " Firmware has to be updated. It shoul be provided on manufacturers CD or download it from the web site.

Now how do i obtain the firmware. The scanner is clearly mentioned in the list of supported Scanners
