Belkin Wireless Notebook Network Card f5d6020

I apologize if this has been asked before.

I am new to Linux and have just installed Fedora Core 3 on my older, Compaq laptop. I am attempting to install my Belkin 802.11b PCMCIA card on the laptop. After I installed Linux, on my first boot, I was notified that I had 'lost' my Belkin card. (I believe that the only reason for this was because it checked for my Ethernet connection before it loaded my PCMCIA cards). Nonetheless, I currently have an internet-less laptop. I have absolutely no idea how to install it, as it is not included on the choices for installing an internet connection.

BTW - I did view the post here on that specific card, but was unable to install it with those instructions.

I would appreciate any efforts towards helping me install my wireless card.
Thanks,
Jon

Czesc!

This is for the 6020 Belkin card:

1. Download the ndis5x-8180(170).zip (xp driver for Realtek 8180 chip)
2. Get bel****.inf and .sys for your card.
3. Change vendor and id data inf net8180.inf using bel6020.inf using diff.
4. >ndiswrapper -i net8180.inf
5. >ndiswrapper -l to check.
6. >modprobe -r ndiswrapper
7. >modprobe ndiswrapper
8. >iwconfig schould show wlan0 interface
9. >dhcpcd wlan0 (download and follow INSTALL)
10. >ndiswrapper -m
11. Play!

Any questions?

Cheers!

Exactly -- please everyone, if you have a solution to a problem, post it up here in the forums. A private Email might help one person, but a post here in the forums might help dozens or even hundreds of people who read this post in the future.

Thanks leadsling -- J.W.

Hello
I Get this error
when I try (7)
FATAL: Could not open '/lib/modules/2.6.11.4-11.7-default/extra/ndiswrapper.ko':
No such file or directory

any suggestions? :(

Thanks

Hi

And 1-6 went ok? Strange...
My ndiswrapper.ko
is
/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/misc/

And 2.6.5-1.358 is the kernel I'm using.

Find your .ko file and put it in
/lib/modules/your kernel version/misc/ folder.

I hope it would work. If not we'll try something else.
