Belkin F5D7010 PCMCIA Wireless NIC
 

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get my wireless card (Belkin F5D7010 PCMCIA) to work under Knoppix linux. I have tried loading the CD drivers supplied for WinXP off the CD (bcmwl5.inf, etc). When I type ndiswrapper -l to take a look, it always says that it is an Invalid Driver.

According to the details on the card itself, it is a Rev. 2 of this product. But, lspci reports it as Rev 3. I'm currently using Knoppix 4.02, and I tried v3.9 Knoppix, and probably another version and the results are similar.

I've also tried the Rev 03 driver (Rt2500.inf) and also the rev01 (PCMCIAbcmwl5.inf) and no luck yet. Note however, I have always been choosing the WinXP driver. I'm not sure if that would be a problem though.

I have looked up several posts throughout the net from people also trying to install this card, but the issue I am having now prevents me from progressing further than a few commands into the setup.

You have my sympathy. Product labelling/indentification of wireless cards is insane.

for getting ndiswrapper to work. It's hard to believe lspci would report the wrong hardware but in the crazy world of wireless cards anything seems possible. I suppose as a last resort you could assume it is revision 3, which seems to have the rt25500 chip, and try the open source driver at

Thanks for the advice. I did find the rtx00 open driver, but I was unable to compile it on Knoppix. After my first post, I searched up information on Broadcom Corp. and realized they offer drivers for win32 platforms, linux, and several others for their chipset.

Because I am relatively familiar with using ndiswrapper from my readings, I chose the WinXp driver and I was able to install it. I loaded it with ndiswrapper, then modprobe'd ndiswrapper. It installed and didn't give me any invalid driver errors.

It seems that I need to iwconfig wlan0 it after, but it didn't seem to be detected at least not under the 'wlan0' reference name.

I'm getting closer at least.
