Behringer U-Control USB + Ubuntu Studio (Hardy)

Alreet chaps....

I'm using the Behringer U-control uc202 interface but am unable to get it set up correctly...

I'm using Ubuntu Studio (latest one.... i believe it's hardy!!)

I'm trying to record in Ardour via Jack... I'm unsure as to whether i'm setting it up correctly...

I've gone through the setup and changed the inputs to the right (i believe) settings but it started hanging...

Is there a thorough manual for Jack as other people seem to have no problems? or am i just being an idiot.... other forums have had people say that they've got it working but no one has once said how to do it...

please don't make me revert to windows!!! I've 2 windows machines and they're both a pile of poo... just spent £300 building a new one only for it to start bluescreening on me randomly today!!! grrr...

if someone could show me how to get it all set up i'd be quite pleased!! or at least tell me what i should be looking for with it being set up correctly.... when i connect the usbdevice i get the little bongo thing playing through it but nothing else seems to come out.... jack either hangs or it's as if it isn't even running....

it's starting to drive me a bit mental!!!

Just to confirm... I'm using qjackctrl as a front end... in set up i've selected the input as HW:1,0 as that's where the USB device is apparently... then am i right that I press the play button to set the "Transport" rolling... which I assume is what sends the audio to different programs... then when I open Ardour and try to record obviously i'm getting nothing....

is there something i'm missing or something that would make the set up easier?

sorry for the lenghty post!!! off to bed now!!
