Question BCM v.90 56k modem in Mandrake 9.1

i have recently installed mandrake linux 9.1, i also have windows installed. since i installed mandrake ive been trying to connect to the net... when i try to with drakconnect it just hangs when it says modem initializing. i have been all over the web trying to find information on my subject but it all turns up nothing. can someone please help?

I just installed RedHat 9. I have the same modem too, BCM v.90 56K. I don't know how to get RedHat to find and use the modem.

my distro has Kernal 2.4.20

WinME says my modem is on COM3 port

By the way i just succesfully installed my BCM V.90 56k modem in Mandrake linux 9.1...
