bad performance of Promise SuperTrak SX6000

I installed a Promise SuperTrak SX6000 on my RedHat 9 system(kernel version 2.4.27).
I am using pti_st driver from Promise web site.

I felt extemely poor performance.
What's the problem?
Anyone else got the same problems or any hints to make it work properly?

following shows hdparm test.

hda: IBM-DTTA-351010, ATA DISK drive (10GB)
hdc: WDC WD2000JB-00FUA0, ATA DISK drive (200GB, almost same performance as Maxter 200GB)
sda: Maxter 200GB 8MB Buffered 6 drives (RAID-5)
