bad 3D performance with geforce 2 on redhat7.1
Hi everyone,
Hi,
Sorry about posting yet another nvidia driver problem thread but having looked around I can't seem to find anything specific to my problem.
I have installed the nvidia drivers from their website and updated my XF86Config file. I can load into X fine and get the nvidia splash page. No problems whatsoever in the general running of things as far as I can tell (using KDE window manager).
I tried running some simple OpenGL programs (eg gears) and again performance seemed fine. However as soon as I try anything a little more complicated (nothing that the card shouldnt handle easily) the performance is painfully slow. I read somewhere online that the problem may be that the wrong GL libraries are being used ... the old ones not the nvidia ones. I checked all the details given in the nvidia README and everything seemed to be in order. Is there anyway I can check if the right ones are being used??
Someone also mentioned something to me about maybe needing to recompile the kernal but I have no idea how to do this or why it may be necessary.
If anyone can suggest anything or point me in the direction of a previous answer that may help I'd appreciate it very much. I'm pretty new to linux so try and keep it reasonably simple if you can!!! Am running RedHat 7.1.
Thanks
