AverMedia UltraTV PCI 550
I have a AverMedia UltraTV Media Center PCI 550, running Suse 9.3 Pro. I'm fairly new to Linux, but I've managed to get everything going and working fine except for this.
Just to give a bit more information, it is being detected as:
WinFast TV2000 XP
Installed as TV card number 0
However, when I try to scan for channels, it says it cannot find any. Also, it has a built in AM/FM tuner that I would like to get working. If I could get the remote working along with it, that would be a bonus, but I'd settle just to get the TV coming in on it.

If it's detected and installed that's a good sign. Trouble is most TV cards seems to need specific switches for card and maybe tuner type and if the authors of the driver code haven't caught up with your model yet it may not work. The fact that is has not correctly ID'ed the card may be a sign that this has happened.
From the output of 'lspci -vv' or 'lsmod' (or looking at the chips) you should be able to see if it is a bttv, saa7134 or cx88 based card.
Then get the latest driver from http://linux.bytesex.org/v4l2/drivers.html and check to see if your card is mentioned yet. If it is maybe compiling a new kernel (or just the driver) will get things working.
EDIT: The drivers are now all together in the video4linux package, so you will have to get this for the latest versions (same site).

OK you have a cx88 card, but it does not seem to be recognised correctly. Probably because it is too new. You could try compiling the latest kernel version, or you can experiment with different options for loading the driver module. I'm not at all familiar with the cx88 driver. Your best bet would be to get the latest video4linux package from bytesex and read the docs.
