automounting usb pen

When I insert a usb drive in my computers, I get two kde automounter dialogs. on my laptop, they are identical, while on my desktop they are in different language. each gives me the choice between opening the drive in a new window and doing nothing. the problem is that one of the dialogs mounts the drive as me, while the other one mounts as root, meaning only root can write to it. I cannot tell the difference between them. chown is not permitted, even with sudo. chmod changes nothing. Is there a way to keep my system from trying to mount with root?

Running the newest kubuntu.

I had the same problem.

Select cancel for both popup boxes.

Then go to the panel you will have _two_ "pen drives". (one for root; one as user)

Go to properties in the "root" one and disable automount drive.

(Since I had fancy coloring to my KDE) the root window appeared in a different color (easily distinguishable).

Now I only get one automounter. thank you. it took some experimenting on my laptop, since the two dialogs were completely identical. which one appeared as number <2> in the title was random.
