Ive got red hat 9 and i tried to install the ALSA drivers for my AU8830 everything looks like its working but i hear now sound. i turned up and unmuted everthing in amixer but still no sound. anyone have similar problems?
How do you try to play sounds? I believe the XMMS that ships with RedHat 9 is crippled because of license issues with the mp3 decoder, so you might have to install that extra package to be able to play mp3's.
oh no i use xmms all the time on my other computer, i downloaded the newest version. I havent got around to trying to use it on my other one because i just go to the sound card detection thing and click play test sound and i get nothing
do lsmod to see if the modules are loaded
also try running xmms from xterm or something so you can see the output in case there are errors.
try to use alsamixer too, AU8830 has a lot of options!
what's your ALSA version btw?
