audio port not working.


I've rhel5 server installed in my HP laptop,on xp my audio port is working properly but not in linux.any way to configure the port ???

RHEL5 is a distribution geared towards servers and stability. NOT for the kind of hardware found on laptops, neither will it support most powersave options here.
Use something like Fedora10 or Mandriva or Ubuntu.
Make sure you get a recent distribution with kernel >=2.6.25 to support most hda-audio chips as well as the mobile chipsets.
