Audigy2 ZS Sound Problem

I was wondering if anyone could help me to get my Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card working. I just got linux installed on my system and was having trouble getting the video to work (Issue with the 6800GT) but now that is working and I was wondering if you could help me with my Sound Card issue. Thank you in advance.

Make sure your kernel is configured for:
  • Device Drivers > Sound > Sound card support
  • ... Advanced Linux Sound Architecture
  • ... PCI Devices > Emu10k1

If you build any of these as modules, make sure they are loaded during startup using:
modprobe ________

Lastly, run alsamixer and unmute all the appropriate channels, then run alsactl store to store the settings. Afterwards, you can add alsactl restore to your startup scripts to restore these mixer settings.

OK the thing that is wierd is that I can get sound while playing the games that are on the OS, but I can not get it to play audio CD's. I checked my volumes and they are all the way up and unmuted. I was wondering do I have to connect the audio cable in between the CD-Rom and the sound card for this to work. Just wondering since I know that it is a possibility. Didn't know if I had to do this for Linux or not though. Sorry if it seems hard to get things across to me, I am a :newbie: and have trouble with Linux. I am trying to disregard most of what I know from Windows since that is what I am really good at and I am just trying to add Linux to my OS library! Tahnk you for all of the help!

Surosec,

My problem is also with an Audigy 2 ZS and I was wondering how/where you check for the 3 options you mentioned and if its not configured for them how would I go about fixing that. Thanks

Christiaan
