Audigy2 NX Crackling Sound

I've read all of the other posts here about this problem as well as on the ALSA web site, but nothing seems to be helping. If someone could attach their asound.conf or .asoundrc file for me to look at, I'd really appreciate it. My asound.conf file (in /etc) is:

I had (have) the same problem. I found it has something to do with the cdrom. If you use kde go into the multimedia setting and the volume control and mute the cdrom. Worked for me and when I use it I just unmute it.

That doesn't appear to work. I only have a CDROM volume control for the onboard sound on my notebook and it sounds fine. I muted it anyway, but it didn't help. I've been working on this for about 3 days and I'm about to go crazy!
