audigy volume

Hello everyone,

I'm running Knoppix 3.4 from my hard drive, but the thing is, Knoppix didn't auto-install my sound card (a Soundblaster Audigy). So I installed ALSA and set it up for my card. I opened KMix and set all the volume up, but I still can barely hear anything. Just for refrence, I have a 2.1 sound setup, and when i turn the volume all the way up in windows the walls shake. In linux, when turned all the way up, like i mentioned, it's barely audible. Any ideas?

Audigy 4 by any chance? I had same problem but theres a switch you need to turn on in kmix or alsamixer. It's the one marked Audigy A in alsa mixer and I think in kmix it's call analogue/digital output jack.

Nope, it's just an Audigy. Anyways, I tried your suggestion, and it stopped making sound altogether. So I tried plugging the speakers into other ports on the sound card 'till i found one that worked with that " analogue/digital output jack" option selected. It does sound louder (still not loud enough mind you) but there just so much noise (hissing and the like) that it just isn't useable. Thanks for the suggestion though.

It's likely to be one or other of the swtches/sliders, or a combination of several. Keep trying and I'm sure you will find it
