audigy under slackware 10 : only noises

hi,
i have an audigy 1 gamer and a slackware 10.
I am not able to get the sound card work. i get only noises.
i have tried this:

i have ricompiled the kernel 2.6.11 WITHOUT alsa support.
then i have installed alsa drivers, alsamixer and alsalib from source.
then i launched alsaconf and the card was correctly founded.
then alsamixer and alsactl -store.

But I get only noises from the soundcard.
any help?^^

why without alsa support? choose Emu10k1 under ALSA PCI devices and recompile ..things should be fine from there..

man.... sorry but i love you!!!
there were 2 months i was searching for making my soundcard work.
now it works and quite well.
the problem was , i think, that all the alsa and emu10k1 driver, except alsa supports, mut be compiled as a module.
no modprobe required.
thanks a lot again!!
works!

edit: ah, to make the sound work I must launch alsaconf every time i start X.
how to skip this little inconvenient ?

Add the correct entries to /etc/modules.conf:
Code:
# ALSA portion
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1

# OSS/Free portion
alias char-major-14 soundcore
# alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-slot-0 snd-emu10k1

# card #1
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss

alias /dev/mixer snd-mixer-oss
alias /dev/dsp snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/midi0 snd-seq-oss
below snd-seq-oss snd-emu10k1-synth
above snd-card-0 snd-mixer-oss snd-seq-oss snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/sequencer snd-seq-oss

i must replace the alsa generated settings with this?

if i append this to /etc/modules.conf the problem of kde is not solved.
i must also edit those entries?
