Audigy 2 ZS - hardware midi support? & error messages

I'm totally gonna start playing Doom1-2 with doomsday on my big ass linux slacwkare box. I recall on my laptop (which most probably DIDNT have hardware midi support) using 'timidity' for software midi.

In this case, doomsday looks like it could easily work with differant midi setups. Does the audigy 2 zs (platinum, it came in that big box with all that crap noone uses) have midi support I could take advantage of on linux? How would I go about doing that? I run slackware and compile a new kernel like every week so I think I could follow directions well enough. I imagine once I can start listening to midis with aplaymidi, I can make doomsday work with aplaymidi as well.

In addition, I get a whole bunch of errors from my slackware 10.2 alsa startup script. Alsamixer restores my mixer settings when rc.alsa is called during init. Its differant everytime, and my sound otherwise works fine, how do I get rid of these erros messages? Ill try using a new asound.state, and Im gonna getting new headhpones in which Ill tweak also to work with anyways, but I dont know why these messages would even show up, and maybe its something to do with the audigy 2 zs, and someone had the same problem..

Thank you very mcuh.
