Attempting to get Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1280 to function

Hello,
I have a new HP quad-core AMD-64 system that came with Vista Home Premium 64, and this Hauppauge card. It has a Conexant cx23885/88 chip with Samsung front-end. I know this is not supported as of yet, however, I can get everything set up using the insmod option with card=20 (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1255). This recognizes everything except the model #, which is 85721. I loaded the V4L-DVB drivers as well as the DTV drivers and tried to do a channel scan, which says it will create a channels.conf file for xine. It runs through the scan, looks like it finds channels, then errors out at the end. Xine finds the tuner, but needs the channels.conf to work. I need to find a way to create the channels.conf file. Any suggestions?

My info:

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Nobody responds, so I'll guess...

Has nobody made an internet posting of a version of a channel.conf file for their 1255 or some other 1250 series that you could edit and use? I assume that you could find the frequency information for the input channels and write it in.

What scan command did you use, as "su", "w_scan -fa" for a digital signal?

You had success with "card=20", but would there be any other designation number that lets the card function and might let you configure the channels?

"lspci" sees this card as a 1250, so I thought that you might try other 1250 variants.

I know little about this, but at least this post might attract someone who knows more, someone with a better idea.

Thank you for your reply. I've tried all the other HVR cards that are on the list. The 1255 is the only one that doesn't error out. I'm working with a guy at Mercurial that hopefully will add my actual card to the card list, so we'll see what happens.

But, I can always use input from any interested parties ;-)
