ATI Rage Mobility M4 wrong resulotion

Hi

Have just upgraded to ubuntu6.10 from 6.04, all has gone well except for my video resulotion which seems to be stuck at 1024X768. Before I did the upgrade the video was at 1400x1050. Editing the xorg.conf file gave me :

# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Still no answer, I will go over what happened. The laptop (a dell insprion 8000 was working on ubuntu 6.06 with a res of 1400X1050, I needed to up grade the laptop to ubuntu 6.10, I did this however the res went to 1024x768. Adding 1400x1050 to my xorg.conf file did not work and the res available did not go above 1024x768. The graphic card is a ATI Rage Mobility M4 agp, I have tried to install the drivers from ati with no success. I have also tried using easyubuntu as this says that it installs ati drivers, however no luck as the part of easyubuntu that installed ati did not work. Does anyone know what to do I am stuck!
