ATI Radeon Drivers

Hi,
i'm running Fedora Core 2, on a new pc. i've never had linux on this system before, so installing these drivers is new to me.
following the instructions on the ati site, i've installed the rpm and run its configuration program.
however when i restart X, its still using the Mesa GL driver and not the accelerated one.
the howto just says to run through their instructions again....but still, no effect.

has anyone got a fool-proof method of getting this up and running?

thanks.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
