Ati Radeon 9800XT and Fedora Core 2

Did anyone manage to run this graphic card under Fedora Core 2 ?I 've read somewhere in the forum that we should first apply a patch in the kernel before trying to install the latest Ati Driver (3.9.0.0.) in Fedora Core 2.If anyone knows anything,it would be really of great help.Thank you in advance.

The card runs fine in FC2...

Download the fglrx-4.3.0-3.7.6 driver from ati, then get these patches
http://rambo.its.tudelft.nl/~ewald/p...6-fedora.patch
http://www.kaseorg.com/fglrx-3.7.6-regparm.patch

As root, install ati driver, eg

rpm -i --force fglrx-4.3.0-3.7.6.i386.rpm

cd /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/
patch -p1 -i /download/fglrx-3.7.6-fedora.patch
patch -p1 -i /download/fglrx-3.7.6-regparm.patch
chmod 777 make.sh
./make.sh
cd ..
chmod 777 make_install.sh
./make_install.sh

The xorg.conf entry for the card can be copied from an old working XF86Config-4

http://rambo.its.tudelft.nl seems to have released a fglrx-3.9.0-fc2.patch for the latest driver release of ati which is at the 3.9.0.0.versio.Should i use the old one you are mentioning or in case i am going to use the new one patch, should i have trouble with the second one patch which is referring to version 3.7.6.0 of the ati driver ? Thank you.

I would suggest using the new one unless you have reason to use the old one.
