ATI Radeon 9800 Pro driver installation on an A7N8X
 

On ATI's website, I've downloaded the new fglrx-glc22-4.3.0-1.2.0.i586.rpm

Has anyone been able to install these drivers with no problem, and getting full 3d acceleration with it?
Just want to know before installing this driver.

Im using Red Hat 9.

I had no problem installing the ATI 3D drivers on with my Radeon 9600 Pro and A7N8X Deluxe board. The tricky part for me was getting my monitor refresh rates set correctly on my Samsung SyncMaster 172N.

Wow, sounds like you have setup very similar to the one I just ordered. I have the same motherboard and video card. I will also be having an LCD flat panel, but I got a great deal on a hP refurb that included some decent speakers, once I get this thing put together you may be hearing more from me, :)

Are you sure you really got that pkg ???

The new driver is version 3.2.8, ...iirc the 1.2.0 was the first driver they ever released ~1 1/2 yr ago, you wouldn't wanna loose your time with that, I can assure you. ;)

Anyway, one word of advice, make sure you run kernel >= 2.4.22 ...and matching sources if you use rpm pkgs.
kernel-headers, if they come in a separate pkg, might be a good idea too if you don't plan to build the sources.

Install with rpm -ivh --force <pkg>, --force is to overwrite XFree's libGL, which is usually easier than removing Mesa.

When you're done installing the driver, you'll be instructed to run #fglrxconfig.
When presented with the option, choose "UseInternalAGPGART" "no".

I've read of several folks for who it was as easy as that ...and others who haven't got it to work yet. YMMV
