Arrow ATI Radeon 9200 SE

My current system specs are:

Proc: Intel Celly 1.7 Ghz
Ram: 512 Mb DDR Ram
Video: ATI Radeon 9200 SE
HDD: WD 80GB 8m Cache Caviar
Distro: Suse Linux Dualboot w/ XP

I cannot get the 9200 se 3d acceleration to work
under linux with XF86 and i have tried the ati drivers but
they still do not enable the 3d acceleration....
I have also tried DRI and still no change.

edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

it may or may not have the -4

Add this line, or change aline to read this under the 'device' section for the card driver

Code:
         Option "UseInternalAGPGart" "no"
My hunch is that's all you're missing.

--Shade

ps- next time it might help a bit more to be specific with any errors you receive...

I got my radeon working thanks to this webpage:

http://www.desktop-linux.net/ati.htm

I used the drivers I downloaded from ati, which was a bit of a bitch to compile, but worked eventually.

biggest pitfalls are making sure the drivers you load in XF86config and whats loaded in your kernel dont duplicate each other.
also, when you download the driver from ati, there's a very nice program called fglrxconfig which builds your xf86config file with all the parameters you need for 3d acceleration

Yeah, i did that and changed that option to "no" but in glxinfo it still shows direct rendering as 0 and when i try to do this as su, (glxinfo or any application like yast2) i get a magic cookie error... it reads the following:

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
error: unavailable to display (null)

same for glxgears, it gives me

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
error: unavailable to display (null)
btw i use fluxbox wm
