ATI Radeon 7500 M works, but certain graphical elements (like sprites) flicker

I just installed Debian 3.x on my Dell Inspiron 4150 notebook. My comp has an ATI Radeon 7500 mobility 32mb video card in it, and I think it's running with DRI. It runs good and fast, but certain graphical elements flicker. In most games this isn't a big deal. In TuxRacer the edges of the ice flicker (the hidden part of the square texture flickers.) In TuxKart parts of the bill boards flicker. In most gl screensavers the whole thing flickers. I can deal with all of this, but the major problem is that when I try to play UT 2004 EVERYTHING flickers. Is there anyway to stop the flickering? Can I just change DRI's configuration to make it better? Any ideas? Thanks you!
