sorry, we misunderstood each other. i wasn't reacting to your post, i was reacting to whole thread, as i had a good time reading it and re-living every step mentioned here until i realized that IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO GET RADEON 7000 WORKING WITH HW 3D ACCELERATION UNDER LINUX. only mesa dri which is far better than nothing.

so that's how i meant my post, sorry 'bout not being clear...

Well, I took my chances and switched over to Xorg. I ran Glxgears before and after, with no significant difference. At least, now I know.
