ATI Radeon 200M driver for KDE

I have looked around for an AMD driver, and all I see is a driver that talks about a different X window app. I was wondering if I can use that, or what I should do? Right now I am seeing that 3D acceleration for my card isnt enabled when trying to install XGL. Thanks

yes but that thread originiated with a different question, so I assumed I would need to start a new thread to get people who know about his to answer

My laptop uses the 200M video card. Everything needed is in the kernel (as of 2.6.9).
The radeon(new) graphics driver.
Character devices - apggart, ATI chipset, ATI Radeon, & Direct Rednering manager (DRI support)

I compiled kernel 2.6.17.3 with radeon support, but I still see that 3D acceleration is disabled
