ATI Mobility 9600 Xorg 3D Support

I am trying to get 3D support working under an LFS 6.0 build with Xorg and the latest ATI driver (8.14.13). I do not have RPM support on this system. I have successfully built and installed the modules for the ATI driver, however, upon a restart of X the Mesa drivers will take over, as shown when the 'fglrxinfo' command is given:

OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.2.1)

The ATI FAQ frequently tells the user to install with the '-force' option with the RPM package. Again, I do not have support for RPMs and am unable to add the drivers or remove the old Mesa drivers in this fashion. I suppose the only solution now is to remove Mesa manually. Do you have any idea how this can be done or if another solution is applicable? Thank you for your support.

I think, but i'm not sure that is like this:

after the installation of the module, type "fglrxconfig" in the console and follow the instructions (it will write the Xorg.conf).

now you must edit the /etc/modprobe.preload and write "fglrx" and restart your session.

But i'm not sure at 100%.
