Ati hardware support ( 1x00 -series )

Well I just got a ati 1800XL graphics adapter, and when I tried to install atis propriety driver, I saw this card isn't even supported by the driver.

Does anyone know something about this?

I mean will ati support those chips at all? Ati support just told that linux driver is as it is....
Whatever, I just think they didn't read the question.

Anyway, how is performance by now? The last time I tried it was really bad and definetly not usable for any game. Did that improve?

your card X1800 seems to be too new to be supported by ATI's Linux drivers (they only go up to X850); maybe they will support it later? I dunno

Well yes.
I just wonder, because 1x00-series is available for a few months now and so I'm worried ati might stop linux support completely.
