ATI driver installation problem (Redahat 9)

I am trying to install ATI driver for linux (Radeon 9600 card) .I installed the rpm file. Then
cd /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod
cd ..
and configuring the driver and evrything OK withouth any error , but
fglrxinfo doesn't show ATI driver( it shows mesa driver) and glxgears only 300 fps
please tell me what else should I do to make it work.
