Question ATI direct rendering Yes but....

hi, well after like a month fighting with my ATI Xpress200 128 MB
i managed to get the direct rendering stuff, but the glxgears
results are the most of the time less than 260 fps however there are a few times that are 1300 fps so dont know whats happening

and my beryl problem is that when a start the XGL session i cant
make any click or anything, and the panel doesnt shows all things that are supossed to be there such like the calendar , etc
im using Ubuntu feisty fawm
PD when im in GNOME session i open the terminal and i type beryl-manager it gives me the menu without any trouble..

thingol@laptop:~$ uname -a

Re-install or upgrade the fglrx library.

Beryl is still experimental. I do not suggest using it for day to day task. Use something else because ATI software is unstable and unreliable. Also they have limited OpenGL. If you want a reliable video card brand, use nVidia.

The utility glxgears should never be used to benchmark video card's performance. It is best to use games benchmark scripts to do this. You can download game demos like Quake or Unreal Tournament and run the benchmark scripts from many sites. Then compare. Remember your graphics chip is integrated, so do not expect high numbers.
