Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

ati all in wonder 7500 radeon XFree86 4.3 problem

Could someone please tell me if they have succeeded in getting
their ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500 (AGP w/64Mb) working in
XFree86 4.3?
I am using SuSE 8.2 and I don't see why it shouldn't work?

Using Sax2 I choose the following:
Graphics Card: ATI RV200 QW
Color and Resolution: 1600x1200 @ 24 bit
3D Acceleration: Enabled
Monitor: SONY MULTISCAN G400 (CPD-G400)

(although I actually have the Sony Multiscan G410, but
it isn't listed in Sax2 anywhere under SONY).
A hardware probe using YAST2 shows the monitor correctly
as: CPD-G410R (capable of 1600x1200 w/vfreq @ 85)
min_hsync 30, max_hsync 110, min_vsync 48, max_vsync 170

Hardware scan also detects my display adapter correctly as:
RV200 QW "ATI RV200 QW" server: radeon
and mentions that it requires XFree86-GLX

When I test the server, all I get is:
"X Server test failed:
(EE) RADEON(0): No Valid mode found for this DFP/LCD
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration"

I am relegated to using the Framebuffer fbdev server
running at 1280x1024 without 3D enabled.

I am using XFree86 v4.3, kernel is 2.4.20,
(all standard from SuSE 8.2 Professional).
I would like to run 24bit color at 1600x1200, can someone please
point me in the right direction?

Thanks very much.

One thing I did notice however is that there is no
XF86Config-4 file in /etc/X11, I presume it's using the
XF86Config file only.

This problem means that XFree can't display because can't find a combination beetwen yr monitor settings, resolution, driver,..
Probably yr monitor settings are wrong!
Take a look here: http://www.freebsdforums.org/forums/...threadid=14738

To see which config file yr XFree uses take a look at yr /var/log/XFRee86.0.log (or similar)
