Hie folks,
my name is Des Cavin and this is my first post here. I am in Norwich Ontario Canada and at this time it is snowing and freezing rain.

Here is my request for help. As indicated in subject above I am having great difficulty getting my ATI9250 to function with O.Suse linux. So bad that I am writing this in WinXP an am starting to get the shakes from not using linux for some tims. I can install it from my onboard i810 chip using the graphic interface. However when I move the vid cable to the ATI card I cannot get a graphic interface. It can't find a server, it can't find the fglrx driver also. Can anyone help me please, then you can bring some sunshine into a poor wee snowed in Canuck.

PS-- I know I can use Linux via onboard i810 chip, however I bought the ATI card as a Christmas gift to me, and being a Scots/Canadian I want my monies worth, not to mention 3d on Linux eh.

Probably not the right driver in xorg.conf. Have a look at /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

As for fglrx, I don't know whether that is available for 9250. If not, you could still use the radeon driver that comes with Suse.

This is my first visit as a new member and I stumble over your problem. I work with two machines with both Intel810 onboard. On one machine I can disable the onboard video via BIOS and put a pci-video card in and it works.
On the second machine you have to move a jumper on the motherboard to disable the onboard I810 video, but like in your case it does not work. The best thing for you is to attach a second monitor and try things out. At leat you will be able to see which method works. Good luck!

I solved the issue by switching to PCLinuxOS, it's great and save s me the hassle from Suse, not to mention their (Novel's) selling out to Usoft for 30 pieces etc......
