atheros (wg511t) suddenly stops (promiscuous mode)

Hi

Im using a (Atheros) Netgear WG511T PCMCIA card with backtrack 3, sniffing packets from an unprotected (open) network (which is my own) using Wireshark. when suddenly my cards stops sniffing data.

It's not that Wireshark stops or that i get any errors, there just stops comming new packets, which i know is wrong. Another way i can see this is on the LEDs of the card. When it sniffs as it should, boths LEDs blink in the same rate, but when it stops only the right LED is lit without blinking, the other is off.

If i reset the card in promiscuous mode, then it works fine for a short period of time then the same thing happens again.

how i reset it:
Code:
# wlanconfig ath0 destroy
# airmon-ng start wifi0 11 (my network is running on channel 11)
I think this could be because of overheating, because the card gets hot, but i am no expert.

The laptop im using has an built in Centrino B wifi adapter which i use to connect to the open network while packet sniffing. Perhaps this affects the Atheros chipset card?

EDIT:
I did a test, started my card in promiscuous mode on my open network channel and started wireshark to only capture ICMP packets, then on my other laptop:
Code:
# ping 192.168.1.1 -i 0.1
(192.168.1.1 is my router) It ran for about two hours and by that time it had captured 17775 ICMP echo requests and replies. and it also had gone in this trange "non-receiving"-mode where only one LED was lit and no more packets were captured although no error was reported.
