Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

ATA RAID and SUSE 9.1 / SLES 9

I've been reading through the posts on mixed support for ata raid controllers. I have tried multiple LSI and Adaptec controllers so far with no luck whatsoever in suse 9.1 and Suse enterprise server 9. I have two machines that will run sles 9 and I'm wondering if anyone knows what ata raid controller will work 100%. I've been looking at Promise TX2000/4000 and SIIG controllers, but haven't put my finger on any yet. If anyone can send me their experiences I would appreciate it so I know I get the right hardware this time and quit wasting my money. Oh, I'm not looking to spend more than about $130. (which makes me think maybe I should get a nice ata/133 controller and use software raid...any suggestions?)

Thanks!
Jason Sinclair
