ATA PCI Card for new HDD with old P2 350

Hi guys,

I recently posted a msg regarding how to get a new 80Gb Seagate HDD to work on a old P2 350 motherboard. Now the motherboard i suspect does not support the ATA HDD since u cant plug it in with the new cables

Hence i went out and got myself a PCI ATA card (some generic one)

Now....i plugged it in and put the new HDD on the secondary IDE port, the old HDD stayed on the motherboard as a primary drive. But things went wrong from there windows requires drivers and all that and it definitely did not work, and linux well....i am stumped!!

has anyone had an experience with these cards and how to install them and get them working correctly???

Yeah, first is to find out what kind of card it is and then, since my guess is that support for it is in your kernel, what ide device your 80GB ended up as.

And paste in the line for the storage controller, probably something like this:

00:13.0 Unknown mass storage controller: Triones Technologies, Inc. HPT366 / HPT370 (rev 03)

Most distros typically compile in support for the common ATA riser cards, so it probably appeared, just as /dev/hde
