Ata bus error problem with raid 5

I have Fedora 6 installed. I have a DFI LanParty UT CFX3200-DR with two 4 port sata controllers. I run a raid 5 array on 7 WD RE2 400 GB disks. On the disks connected to one of the sata controllers I get errors like this:

Nov 16 00:18:12 red kernel: ata1: spurious interrupt (irq_stat 0x8 active_tag -84148995 sactive 0x83)
Nov 16 08:14:04 red kernel: ata1.00: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x7 SErr 0x980101 action 0x2 frozen
Nov 16 08:14:04 red kernel: ata1.00: tag 0 cmd 0x60 Emask 0x14 stat 0x40 err 0x0 (ATA bus error)
Nov 16 08:14:04 red kernel: ata1.00: tag 1 cmd 0x60 Emask 0x14 stat 0x40 err 0x0 (ATA bus error)
Nov 16 08:14:04 red kernel: ata1.00: tag 2 cmd 0x60 Emask 0x14 stat 0x40 err 0x0 (ATA bus error)
Nov 16 08:14:04 red kernel: ata1: soft resetting port
Nov 16 08:14:04 red kernel: ata1: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
Nov 16 08:14:04 red kernel: ata1.00: configured for UDMA/133
Nov 16 08:14:04 red kernel: ata1: EH complete

This just happens to the drives connected to the Silicon Image 3114 PCI controller chip. This chip is an older one that supports just SATA 1 and does not support NCQ. Could this be the problem? Or could it be a software problem?
