When i installed FC5 it defaulted using snd-hda-intel sound driver for the primary drivers for my on-board sound. There is this hissing ringing noise on every output. I tired to use nvidia drivers from nvidia for my soundcard and ran into problems with the drivers compiling a module for my soundcard under kernel 2.6.16-1.2122 and 2.6.15. so I patch the driver with a patch that was posted a site and it completed the installation but when it comes to load the module snd-hda-intel override everytime even if I remove snd-hda-intel from the modprobe.conf and modprobe.conf.dist files. is there another place modules are booted from that I'm over looking?

I just updated my drivers and the ringing is gone.
