ASUS UEFI motherboards

Has anyone any experience with any of the newer ASUS motherboards sporting UEFI boot-up ?

Example M5A99X_EVO_R20/

I did a Dell laptop for my brother recently -- and the BIOS -- although UEFI capable -- offered "standard boot" -- which obviously allowed GRUB to launch Linux ...

what I'm trying to find out is if these new ASUS motherboards offer the "standard boot" option . hopefully we'll have UEFI support in GRUB pretty soon

I have a Z97 Pro running Ubuntu Gnome 14.10. No particular problem with either UEFI or Legacy BIOS mode installations.

Grub doesn't seem to have any particular problem with UEFI mode on this motherboard. Using it now. Boots fine.

The only issue was having to use the "F8" key to force selection of the EFI mode installer on the installation medium. It _really_ wanted to use the legacy mode.

this is an Intel motherboard; I prefer AMD. However you experience indicates the ASUS/UEFI MoBos do offer to come up under "standard boot" -- which should bring the system up . it would be preferred to use UEFI -- but as you noted -- it might not work in every application e.g. an install stick.

Have you tried the Express gate on it yet?
