Asus U32U-ES21 with Radeon card good for Linux?

Hi,
I would like to buy laptop ASUS U32U-ES21 and install Ubuntu (Gnome) on it. Anybody having experiences about Linux performance on it? (I heared Radeon cards are not that good for Linux...)

Here are some specifications:
Processor - 1.65 GHz E-Series Dual-Core E-450
Graphics Coprocessor - AMD Radeon HD 6320

I need running programs like Openshot (video processing) and some graphics like Gimp, Inkscape, I like Compiz of course.

Many thanks!
:hattip:

This should run fine, If you install the proprietary AMD video-driver on it, which is no problem at all using Ubuntu's "Additional Drivers" application.
Although I don't really think that it is fun to work in GIMP with such a small screen, but that is of course up to you.

I have a netbook with those specs. For most everything, it works great in Linux. Streaming HD video is its biggest weakness though. Mainly because flash on Linux sucks.

Openshot in patricular, but also Inkscape and GIMP will run a slower on that laptop than it would on a desktop of similar price.

Thank you so much, guys!
I have good dektop at home but as I travell a lot, I need some light laptop to work with graphics with me.
I think that one would be enough, but I f you can recommend any better at similar (or slightly higher) price, I would consider.
Cheers!

If you want it for travel, the E-450 is actually pretty good. Low power consumption and good battery life.

Getting a laptop with more CPU power would mean getting an intel or a faster AMD, both of which will be a fair bit more expensive. The faster AMDs ae cheaper than the fast intels, but the AMD systems wont have quite as much battery life as the intels.

Sorry I cant help more.

Thank you cascade9! Im not very good at hardware issues so this info is very useful.
Im considering on the other hand buying used Dell XPS XPS13-40002sLV 13-Inch Ultrabook on Amazon.
It is bit more expansive and... attractive.
It has Intel Core i5 2467M Processor 1.6GHz
The page information is here:
Just wonder if the performance of mentioned programms would be better on it?
Thanks!

The i5-2467M is faster than the E-450, but I wouldnt get a used Dell XPS at all.

If you can find a laptop with an AMD 'A' series quad core CPU it might be around the same cost new as the Dell is 2nd hand and be faster as well.

Wow, thank you! That's the answer!
So, I found this:
Samsung Silver 13.3" Series 5 NP535U3C-B01US Laptop PC with AMD Quad-Core A6-4455M Accelerated Processor
I is also ultrabook and the price is exactly as you said!
What do you think about this Samsung?
Cheers!

Either the seller make a mistake with the CPU listed, or its lies. AMD A6-4455M is a 2 core/2 thread CPU, not a quad core.

A6-4455M is faster than E-450. Still not as fast as the i5-2467M.

A proper quad core AMD fusion CPU (e.g. A8-4555M, A10-4655M) should be faster or at least as fast as the i5-2467M.

IMO either stop looking at 'ultrabooks' and get a normal laptop, or deal with much lower CPU performance. Ultrabooks are made to be sleek and trendy, not for CPU power.
