Asus Strix Soar (Soundcard) Not Working
Hi peoples
Well, I have switched my laptop over to ubuntu with no real problems, but, I am having an issue with my desktop. For some reason, I cannot get my soundcard working. I have an Asus Strix Soar. It's supposed to be supported, but, I get nothing at all. Can anyone help?? This is really bugging me! I cant switch over with no sound!
Headphones work and it works in windows. I am connecting to my speakers via Digital S/PDIF Output. Here's a screenshot of the settings - https://imgur.com/a/JIaMnz4
Cheers

First thing I'd try is open alsamixer (open a terminal and just type in 'alsamixer' without quotes) and make sure the SPDIF isn't muted (it will show 'MM' if it is) - you may have to select the Strix soundcard over your GPU/onboard/any other devices in the system, press F6 to do so, and then find the Strix card, and then see if SPDIF shows MM. If it does, press M with that column selected (use arrow keys to move around) and it should then show 00 or 100 or some other value (something not 'MM').

Is that the total number of adjustable levels? Or can you go onto another 'page' (press the 'right' arrow a few times)

The only remaining 'guess' I have is see if 'PCM Capture' or 'Input Ga' have any impact - but otherwise I'm really not sure why it isn't working (I'm assuming you've already 'done the obvious' and checked physical connections and that the speakers/external decoder are working).
