ASUS P4P800 RedHat 9

Has anybody got a definate answer yet as to what works for the 3 COM 3C940 ?? I too just found I have this problem after upgrading my MOBO from an Intel 400Mhz FSB mini board which worked fine. w / the Intel Pro chip.
Now it will not connect... has anyone with the same problem fixed thiers yet ?

thanks.

There is a driver available from the ASUS website for this.

I got mine working in SuSE 8.2, but for some reason it quit (even in XP, so it wasn't a software problem...the NIC died), and I installed an inexpensive PCI NIC instead, which was picked up right away by SuSE without issues. It's a US Robotics, and seems to be even a tad faster than the onboard one with my P4P800

Any updates?

Here's what I'd like to do... burn ISOs for a linux distro, install distro, and the 3c2000 works. Maybe there is something recent we should be looking at? I would like to have this NIC work, rather than installing something else.
Thanks

I'm a little confused -- are you saying you installed the 3c2000 driver and it doesn't work?

Right, on RedHat 9.
Looking at this thread...

Maybe I sould try Mandrake or SuSE.

I have SuSE; tried RH9 for a bit, and I personally like SuSE better. My video card (9800 pro) was harder to get going on SuSe though.

Is the reason why support for 3c2000 is not 'automatic' (requiring a patch) is that the kernel does not include the drivers?
