Asus H87-Pro LGA1150 : Unsupported hardware device - Haswell HDMI audio
I have problem running Centos 6.4 64bit on an Asus motherboard (H87-Pro with latest LGA1150 chipset.
Integrated Graphics/Audio/LAN - no expansion cards installed. SATA 1.5Gb/s 80GB HDD, and DVD R/W
Pentium Dual Core 3GHz CPU
BIOS throws error - "Unsupported hardware device - Haswell HDMI audio"
Audio is integrated so no way I can bypass/avoid this
Processor 2x Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G3220 @ 3.00GHz
Host bridge Intel Corporation Haswell DRAM Controller (rev 06)
PCI bridge Intel Corporation Haswell PCI Express x16 Controller (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [Normal decode])
VGA compatible controller Intel Corporation Haswell Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Audio device Intel Corporation Haswell HD Audio Controller (rev 06)
Have BIOS in Legacy OPROM mode. (UEFI mode won't even let me install Centos - won't boot into Live CD)
In Legacy mode - install from live CD/live DVD goes well.
Except Anaconda 13.21.95 reports
"This hardware or combination is not supported by Red Hat"
However rest of install goes OK
When reboot after install - computer hangs/freezes.
After manual shutdown/restart
BIOS throws error - "Unsupported hardware device - Haswell HDMi audio"
Then Grub 0.97 appears - select Windows 8 - boots OK
select Centos 6.4 -- goes to Welcome screen - specify username/pwd and NTP settings and kdump - asks to reboot - then freezes when hit OK
Start again and gives back Grub and Welcome screen and cycle repeats again.
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installs and boots OK on same system
Will try Fedora and Linux Mint : Think have to give up on Centos on this system although thats what I am used to using for the last 5 years or so.
See also attached sys specs from Ubuntu 12.04 install
I had the same issue with my HP not booting; adding "noapic" to the boot string took care of it.
I still get the "Unsupported hardware device - Haswell HDMI audio", but the few videos I have played have sound, so I ignore it.
