ASUS Motherboard drivers

I've got an ASUS P4PE (Intel 845PE) Series 01 otherboards with the the Broadcom BCM4401 LAN card and the Avance AV97 audio card in it. So far, I almost - used loosely - have a working network card, but I can't find any drivers at all for the audio card.

Has anyone out there:
a) had the same problem
b) know how to finish setting up the LAN card
or c) know the location of the audio drivers?

Thanks.

EDIT: Before the moderators start having a go at me for posting about the lan card twice, I have read the '8 mile long post' on it, have got the drivers from it, and have insmod'ed it, but it still doesn't work anyway.

The broadcom drivers are around, just not in-kernel:

As for the sound card, what's the output of /sbin/lspci -v as regards to "multimedia controller"

I've found a driver for it, but all it does is hiss. Really driving me mad now... Got the LAN card going, finally. That thread was useful.

lspci -v gives this:

00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 50)
Subsystem: Asustek Computer, Inc.: Unknown device 8095
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 6
I/O ports at e000 [size=256]
Capabilities: [c0] Power Management version 2

Any ideas? I'm using the alsa drivers for it, but all it does in KDE and GNOME, as I've already said, is hiss.

I've already got the newest ALSA package. I've installed everything in 0.9 from that site, and unmuted everything. I'm still only getting hissing though...

I got some bad news on the sound card as far as in-kernel goes... it just got re-added to the kernel by Alan Cox, I remember lkml babble about Garzik getting around to putting it back in. Its in 2.4.20-pre4:
