Areca support?
Hello. I currently have a file server I built using an Areca ARC-1160ML2 RAID controller. It's presently running Windows 2003 but I want to slowly migrate all my home systems to Debian. I was just wondering if anyone knew if Debian supports the Areca controller. Is there anything special to keep in mind when planning a linux file server? The server has 16 Western Digital 1 terabyte drives and is currently setup as a 14 terabyte RAID6 volume.
The only thing that sucks with this is having to backup the server so I can wipe and rebuild it, hehe. I only have 1.8 TB free so I have quite a bit to backup. My office just bought a 3Par T400 SAN with, IIRC, 18 TB so I'll probably just take the server to work to do this. Once I get all the data on the SAN, when the server is rebuilt is there a way in linux to say copy all files from a network folder recursively and create folders as necessary? In Windows I usually xcopy *.* /c/h/o/k/e/y but I don't know what the equiv in Debian would be.
Thanks!
